Gameguru Mania was recently able to score an interview with Wargaming.net“>Nick Katselapo, the producer from Wargaming.net, the dev company that is currently in charge of developing the the upcoming turn-based strategy game for the PC called Inhabited Island: Battlefield.

For those not in the know, the game is based on the book “Inhabited Island” (aka “Prisoners of Power”) by the Strugatsky brothers. The game however, will focus more on taking the players out into the battlefield where they will be forced to fight against enemy forces in the North, resist invasion from the South, and gain combat superiority over the fleet of the Island Empire. The whole game is set on the planet Saraksh, which has just survived an atomic war.

However, the game will also feature some of the characters from the book, such as Maxim Kammerer (the lead character), the Wanderer (who will serve as Kammerer’s guide throughout the game), as well as the four races that appeared in the book: the Land of the Fathers, the Khonties, the Barbarians and the Island Empire. The game will also be powered by the same engine that was responsible for making Massive Assault Network 2 look good, so we can be rest assured that the game’s graphics will in no way be compromised in this one.

As for the release date, Katselapo shares that the game is currently in the preliminary stages of a beta test but the target release date for Europe is February 2007. No word yet on whether Inhabited Island: Battlefield will reach American shores, and Katselapo said that they have received proposals from a lot of U.S. publishers, but the official announcement is yet to be made.

The Gameguru Mania interview tackles a whole LOT more: from gameplay, to the multiplayer and singleplayer modes, AI system, music, interface, weapons, and tons more, so if you wanna check out the full interview, just click on the read link below and you’re all set. Stay tuned ‘coz we will be bringing you more updates and developments.
