Nintendo hopes Wii Play to be bigger than Wii Sports
Wii Play finally arrived in North America days ago, and Nintendo is hoping that it’s going to be big, if not bigger than Wii Sports. After all, the two titles are somewhat alike – a compilation of games that demonstrate the capabilities of the Wiimote.
Nintendo of America’s Senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison is quite hopeful:
Wii Play builds on the types of games and experiences people have come to love in Wii Sports. Millions of people around the world are recognizing Wii as the future of gaming. We are changing how people play games, who plays and how many play.
And with its pricing, it seems that Wii Play is really being pushed by Nintendo. The game comes packaged with a Wiimote for a suggested retail price of US$ 49.99. A typical Wii title retails around US$ 50 and the controller is priced at US$ 39.99.
