Nintendo UK plans “largest ever sampling campaign”

When the Save-U-More grocery store first opened, everybody in my small town went there. To sample all the free food. Sampling works – it lets you see how nice a product is – and BOOM, you’ve been bamboozled by the sales and marketing people into buying it.

The Wii isn’t exactly peanut butter and crackers. It’s a valuable piece of hardware – but when November 10 rolls around, Nintendo UK is rolling out their largest ever sampling campaign. The sampling campaign will end January 13, 2007 – the Wii will launch December 8 in the UK.

During this time, over 60 locations across the UK and Ireland will be visited by the Wii. If the videos from the World Tour launch in Japan are any indication, this sampling campaign just might work. Dawn Paine, Marketing Director, Nintendo UK, says:

The complexities of some of the newest games have alienated those who used to play games with their entire families. Wii changes all that. Nintendo has created the most inviting, inclusive video game system to date.

That’s Nintendo’s message during this campaign.

As this old Wii Play Together video shows, what better way to prove it than to put the Wii remote into the hands of your average shopper?
