On Blu-ray This Week: January 21 to January 27, 2008

It’s time for this week’s batch of Blu-ray releases and the list features a couple of titles for the wholesome family movie fans and horror junkies. What have we got for this week? The Game Plan and Saw IV: Unrated Director’s Cut.

It’s time for this week’s Blu-ray releases once again and well, the list is a bit on the scant side. There are only two titles for this batch and they come from two completely different genres. How different? Well, imagine a cute little bunny rabbit in a tutu against Leatherface (from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

Yes, dear readers. We’ve got gory versus wholesome with the release of Saw IV: Unrated Director’s Cut and The Game Plan.

Let’s check out exhibit A, The Game Plan (Disney/Buena Vista). It’s The Rock’s… er Dwayne Johnson’s wholesome family flick playing as football star Joe Kingman. Everything’s going great for him – until he meets Peyton Kelly, his daughter, for the first time. As you can probably tell, Kingman’s world turns upside down as he is rudely thrust into the world of parenting. Pretty hard when you don’t have a parental bone in your body.

Exhibit B is the unrated director’s cut version of the fourth title in the Saw series. If you follow the grisly horror flicks, Saw III left off with the series’ main antagonist Jigsaw getting killed. In Saw IV: Unrated Director’s Cut (Lionsgate Films), we find out that Jigsaw and Amanda’s deaths were not the end of the horrific games.
