On Blu-ray This Week: March 24 to March 30, 2008

On Blu-ray This Week: Steep, Bonnie and Clyde, and Naked Beneath the Water - Image 1We’re sure some of you have gone through last week’s Blu-ray titles a couple of days after they were released. Well, for this week, you’ll be able to go through more titles – though they’re not necessarily easy to watch. Naked Beneath the Water, for example, shows what happens if there’s a reality show made for killers. Bonnie and Clyde, on the other hand, is a classic about the notorious duo’s life and times. Check out the full article for the complete list of Blu-ray releases this week.

Last week, we only had a couple of Blu-ray titles to talk about. This week, we have a slightly beefier list and some pretty interesting titles to grace your Blu-ray home entertainment systems.

What have we got? Daredevil skiers, bank robbers, reality show killers, and a fairy ballet. It’s sport documentary Steep, biography-slash-action flick Bonnie and Clyde, indie film Naked Beneath the Water, and ballet Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Take a closer look at a couple of titles:

Who doesn’t know Bonnie and Clyde? Our generation got to know the couple via several references in film, music, and literature, but back in their heyday, they were known as notorious bank robbers. The 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde chronicles their heists, gun battles, and well, basically their story (of course, there were deviations from the real story and movie). Check out the movie if you’d like some nostalgic retro technicolor goodness – don’t forget the popcorn and the Kleenex.

In case this is the first time you’ve heard of Naked Beneath the Water – no, it’s not a movie by M. Night Shyamalan, it’s actually an indie film about reality TV shows. Imagine this: Your brother’s been missing for month. You get a phone call where the mysterious caller tells you about the very very twisted reality show where murderers tape their kills to get the prize of being the killer of the year. One of the “crime scenes” looks eerily like your brother’s apartment. What do you do?

There you have it. Here’s the complete list of releases for March 25, 2008:

  • Digital Video Essentials (DVD International)
  • Bonnie and Clyde (Warner Bros.)
  • Steep (Sony Pictures)
  • Naked Beneath the Water (Phoenix Entertainment)
  • Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Opus Arte)
