And so Sony, after all of a sudden, launched an attack to the homebrew community better known as PSP Firmware 3.10. First blood apparently was shed for Korean versions of  the handheld. And the word is spreading fast. If we are not mistaken, there are no casualties as of yet, thanks to the hardworking stalwarts of the scene.

Speaking of which, we know we already clarified a lot of details regarding this matter but things like this need to be reiterated. We need to know all the details from all angles, especially if it’s coming from a learned one. Known homebrew developer Ookm, recently had a look at FW 3.10 and conducted a series of tests. His findings are as follows:

Some rumors say:

  • All firmwares below 1.52 won’t be able to upgrade directly
  • Use FW3.10 to upgrade downgraded TA-082 PSPs have bricked

On my test:

  • FW3.10 can use on PSP with FW1.50 😛
  • FW3.10 can use on FW3.03 downgraded TA-082 PSP with FW1.50 😛
  • FW3.10 can’t run New GTA Exploit 🙁
  • FW3.10 can’t use C+D’s 3.03PsarDumper to decrypt 🙁
  • And FW3.10 on PSP-1000 (JP ver) have new PlayStation Spot function 🙂

Apparently, the new PlayStation Spot gives users an access to the Internet so that they can download game demos and play games that are compatible with the infrastructure mode or use the Internet browser. It seems that Sony is shutting down the scene and is giving this as a peace offering of some sorts. Well, we guess it’s not enough. It will never be enough…
