After warning gamers that their upcoming action title, The Saboteur, might not make it to retail shelves this year, Pandemic Studios has come through and officially announced that it will be released this year after all. On December 4, 2009, to be exact.

The Saboteur has players take control of Sean Devlin, freedom fighter sometime race car driver out for revenge against the Nazis. Trapped behind enemy lines, Sean takes it upon himself to fight back and take the Nazi forces down, literally bringing color back into the gray and lifeless city the Nazis have turned Paris into.

This mechanic, called the “Will to Fight,” will change the way Paris is seen and felt – from a dark and oppressed policed state to a bright and inspired world where the citizens fight back. As the player executes acts of sabotage against the occupying force, color returns to the stylized black and white world — both figuratively and literally.

The Saboteur will be available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game will also make an appearance at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
