Paul Thurrott: new Xbox 360 to arrive by end of 2007

The TwiT podcastIn the tenth episode of Windows Weekly, a podcast hosted by Leo Laporte and Paul Thurrott, Paul mentions that the new Xbox 360 is probably something that won’t happen until the end of 2007. This is all speculation, of course, but this is apparently enough to stir up a lot of curiosity for fans of Microsoft‘s game console.

According to Paul, the recently-announced IPTV-capable Xbox 360, which will be added to later versions of the Xbox 360, is actually Microsoft‘s “push to make the Xbox even MORE of an all-around all-in-one center of the digital hub in your living room.” Hence, the new Xbox 360 is expected to come with not just IPTV capability, but a larger hard drive as well. On top of that, Paul is also speculating that the new Xbox 360 will be a whole lot quieter.

He points out that the IPTV-Xbox 360,

won’t be coming out until the end of 2007, (and it’s) likely that it will also be the quieter version that we’re talking about, because THAT version of the Xbox 360 is ALSO coming out at the end of the year, and for them to be the same things is pretty obvious.

I guess we’ll see next Christmas, won’t we?
