PAX 2007: Assassin’s Creed gameplay video

The last time we got acquainted with Ubisoft‘s Assassin’s Creed (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) in terms of seeing it in action, it was way back in E3. Now, here’s a huge 11-minute video of actual gameplay that shows off a more polished version of the game, as well as the game’s realistic crowd mechanic (bumping into strangers causes your character to stumble and fall). And of course, real-time weapon switching! YEAH!

One particular juicy portion of this video is the combat scene with you, the Assassin, horribly outnumbered – and suffice to say it’s one of the smoothest-looking combat sequences yours truly has ever witnessed. Targeting a specific enemy looks easy, parrying attacks from all sides is a breeze – and the camera keeps track of the action well enough so that you have almost every enemy in your sights. The scripted grapple moves look as painful as they should be – breaking kneecaps in next-gen graphics never looked this cool.

The video embed’s below, you know what to do!
