Payton on MGS3 PSP rumor: Wish we made it

Wish you could get me, huh? - Image 1The flame was put out even before it started a blaze. Ryan Payton has pretty much confirmed that the circulating rumor on the MGS3 title for the PSP is exactly that — a rumor. For the backstory and his very succinct reply to this buzz, head on over to our full article.

Revolver Ocelot of MGS fame - Image 1If you’ve been trolling the web as of late and has come across the rumor that there will be an upcoming MGS title for the PSP, then it would be best for you to know that this rumor has been confirmed — as exactly that. A rumor.

Fans hoping for some grain of truth in this would be highly disappointed, for sure. But in case you have been busy with human interaction and so has not heard of this rumor, here’s a backgrounder.

The MGS PSP buzz originated from Russian site StarSniper. It later on appeared on the PlayStation forums when a member exposed alleged details on the title. “The game is titled Metal Gear 3: Revolver Ocelot and it takes place between MGS: Portable Ops and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. It will feature some scenes from the original Metal Gear,” so wrote the forums member.

He furthers,

The game uses a recruitment similar to MGS: PO and the main character is Revolver Ocelot, looking similar to both MGS3 and MGS1. Big Boss is not a playable character, but appears sometimes during the cut scenes supervising the construction of outer heaven.

It was also said that more details will be revealed at the up and coming E3. However. All these wonderful possibilities turn out to be false. In a singular post at NeoGAF that is sure to put the final nail on the coffin, Ryan Payton, Assistant Producer at Kojima Studios, simply said, “Sounds cool. Wish we made it.”

We sure do, too, that’s for sure. So there. It’s not real. Unless of course the Ryan Payton post was the one not real…. Anyhow, just keep it posted here for more updates. We’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as we get them.
