PlayStation Home beta gets v0.96 update this week

Home - Image 1The PlayStation Home closed beta lot is about to get the latest version of Sony‘s virtual world. The update for v0.96 is set to arrive later this week and it won’t be through a patch. How then will it be applied? The answer to that and other details up next.

Slowly but surely, the PlayStation Home beta is inching closer and closer to your consoles. A forum post from TedTheDog shown in the image above suggests that the v0.96 update is closing in for closed beta testers.

The said update will be received by beta testers through a code sent to their email accounts on Thursday, July 31. The code can then be used via the XMB‘s Account Manager. Simply put, this one won’t use the typical patch mechanic to update the Home beta.

A post from PS3 News suggests that this will make Home part of the XMB and not just an item under the GAME menu. Little else has been spoken of in terms of in-world changes. We’ll give you an update as soon as we can.
