PSOne games @ US$ 5, not points

This takes us back. It's been a long road, getting from there to here...The last time this writer ran into the Playstation Network, we found that all prices in the Playstation Store will be marked in local currency (not point-equivalents, just local currency). Okay, the next bit of news: according to Hardcore Casual Gamer, based off the Karraker interview with Gamasutra we featured before, “downloadable PSOne games are going to be US$ 5 each.”

No need to translate that from points. Five dollars. Five Washingtons. The only question we have is why didn’t we mention that before?!

Okay, please accept our sincerest apologies for forgetting that little bit of info, and for having to announce (or repeat?) what effectively is old news. So once you get your widdle hands on a PS3, you can pony up US$ 5 per classic PS title, feed it off to your PSP, and relive the good-old Playstation days.

This bit of news is raking up a bit in Joystiq and the NeoGAF board. Five dollars kinda rocks (especially when one considers that Nintendo Virtual Console titles are priced the same, says Hardcore Casual Gamer). On the other hand, there are a few opinions that some of the more popular titles, like the PSOne Final Fantasy titles, could demand a higher asking price. Then again, Karraker did say that the emulated PSOne titles “will all be under $5” to Gamasutra.

It would be nice if the PSOne titles were playable off the PS3 in a future update, however.
