PSP D-Pad Functionality Mod

Although this is old news, I came across it trying to fix my rotten job of applying an XCM faceplate, and some of you may not have seen it yet. This mod will give your PSP a much more ‘PS1’ feel. The directional buttons will be easier to push. If you’ve seen the inside of the PSP you know the D-Pad is just a little too thin, whereas the PS1s D-Pad was just a bit too thick. This mod is perfect for games like Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 Remix and fighting games like Darkstalkers: Chronicles, which require diagonal button presses and quick D-Pad rotation. All in all, this can be useful for a lot of reasons, but it DOES require that you remove your PSPs faceplate, which voids your warranty. Mine is long gone, so that’s not a big deal. Above is a pic of the original D-Pad versus the modded one.
