Red Steel/Katana Rumor Update: Ubisoft’s “Incredibly Violent” Game for Revolution for Real

A Ubisoft project for the next-gen console, earlier billed as an “incredibly violent” game, has crossed over (a la Iverson) from rumor to reality. The rumor first came from AMN Revolution grapevine crediting anonymous sources within Nintendo of Europe. The game, code-named “Katana”, was going to be a shooting/swordplay combo so violent it would make grandmas puke.  More recently, Game Informer magazine leaked their May issue’s cover shot of a pistol and a katana sword bearing the reflection of a Revolution controller on its blade. The game was identified as “Red Steel”, a new title from Ubisoft.  Game Informer didn’t say much about it casting doubt on it authenticity.  Had enough of the mystery? It has been confirmed that Ubisoft is making a Revolution game. So there, that should put that to rest. But the end of one rumor gives rise to more questions. Are “Katana” and “Red Steel”  the same game? Nintendo chose to keep its corporate mouth shut. Ubisoft declined to comment on the game further. You guys…!
