Rubber Bands Updates: Test Release + Video

RB 001RB 002RB 003RB 004

It’s been a while since we featured this awesome stylus-based game from walaber. Rubber Bands is his first DS game and is based on a simple particle physics library that he wrote. Gamers have nothing but high praises for this game, even urging him to get it published. Rubber Bands is divided into several mini-games like High Throw, Catch Game, Basket Game, Complete Game and Egg Drop.

High Throw
You get 3 tries to throw the rubber band as high as you can. When the band has settled, the game will automatically reset to throw again.

Catch
Try to catch the particles that drop from the top, and slow them down so they touch the ground gently. If they hit too hard, the world will flash and you will not get a point for that particle.

Basket
Drag the stylus to create rubber bands. Try to flick the particles into the basket by adjusting the rubber bands. The next particle spawns when the previous one settles (and disappears).

Complete
Try to setup some rubber bands that will guide the particle from the spawn point, to settle at the finish point. The finish point is anywhere inside the green rectangle you see on-screen. you have a limited amount of length of rubber band you can use,
that you can divide however you like in up to 5 different bands.

Egg Drop
Build a structure to protect the special green particle. Construction has 3 modes: PARTICLE, BAND, and ROD. Just press X to switch modes.

This new version has the following changes (straight from Walaber)

  • I realized I wasn’t creating the .sc.nds / .ds.gba properly- there was no loader appended. hopefully this will help with some compatibility issues.
  • tweaked the physics a bit.
  • improved the High Throw game.
  • rearranged and added a few new levels to the Complete game.
