RuneScape gets new account recovery system, locked account procedures

The account recovery system and the method for handling locked accounts in Jagex Ltd‘s RuneScape have just been overhauled.

According to the announcement on the official site, this was done to make completing the request form much easier, recover lost accounts faster, and to secure compromised accounts more effectively.

Those who wish to recover their passwords for their account will still follow the links from the front page. However, It will now take the user to a login form similar to all the other login forms on their website but without the password requirement.

In the past, the game administrators would immediately answer any appeal regarding locked accounts. The new system implemented says that system lock appeals will be held for up to three days to allow any players contesting the account to make their own appeals.

Players who have been having problems with their account should take note of these changes since it could affect how long before you can resume playing RuneScape.
