Loki
is a hack ‘n slash video game for Microsoft Windows/PC, and to those of us who are into the genre, this action-RPG looks like an “instant classic.” A previous QJ.NET article covered some of the features of Loki, but it won’t hurt to have another list here that focuses on other game features. None of this is made-up; it’s all taken from recent press releases (the WorthPlaying article, our image source for this update, has the same details):

  • Never play the same game twice: levels are randomly generated each time.
  • Weapons, being made of two parts (“handle” + “cutting edge”) and from different materials, can be customised at the village forge to change characteristics. In other words, you can disassemble and rebuild different weapons.
  • Power-up weapons with magic runes.
  • There’s multiplayer support if you want to play with friends. There’s a PvP arena if you’re into that kind of thing. There are also online challenges.
  • An epic adventure through four great mythologies – Aztec, Egyptian, Greek, and Norse – allowing the player to live through many of the key episodes that mark these cultures (the siege of Troy, Ragnarok, etc.) and setting him in the path of the most prominent figures within each episodes (Achilles, Thor, Akhenaton,Â…). You choose from four different heroes with their own attributes and powers. Each hero has a vast array of spells and skills to help him in his quest.
  • More than 100 “beautifully detailed monsters” of all shapes and sizes.

Loki is currently being developed by Cyanide, with Focus Home Interactive handling the publishing. It looks like the game will be released in Europe on June 30, 2007. The North American release date has not yet been announced, but we’re pretty sure there will be a US version, judging by the fact that there’s a US section on the game’s official site.
