Sega opens site for mystery RPG ‘Dragon’

Sega logo - Image 1Sega‘s put up a teaser site for a mystery RPG. It hints at a title that is star-studded in terms of the creative team line-up, actually. And the site was successful at generating interest from RPG and Sega fans. Conspiracy theories abound, but which ones are correct?

If you check out the source link below, you’ll find that Sega has put up a website for “Dragon”. What is Dragon? Apparently, it is an RPG that the creators of Phantasy Star Zero and Shining Force Feather are working on right now.

Exciting news, huh? Although the site gives only so much as a teaser (and with very cool flash animation plus beautiful soundtrack to boot), we did manage to scour some more information at other forums, with very gung-ho posters soliciting their own theories as to what the RPG is.

Some folks over at the NeoGaf forums, for example, take note of the soundtrack, and is led to believe that is could be for the Nintendo DS. Another clue that points to it being a Ninty RPG is the model of the 3D dragon that appears at the very end of the flash animation, which we have captured, as you can see above. But of course, all these are just speculations as there’s no official word yet as to what platform this is coming to.

The site also reveals that the director for the title is Kazuya Niinou. In case you don’t know who he is, he worked on Trauma Center: Under the Knife, Yggdrasil Labyrinth, and Etrian Odyssey. Producer is Rieko Kodama (Phantasy Star creator, Skies of Arcadia producer), developer is Image Epoch, and music is by Yuzo Koshiro. Mota takes the wheel for character design. That’s some star-studded developing team right there, don’t you agree?

Anyway, the conspiracy theories could go on and on, but no matter how sound they may be, the truth lies only with Sega. We’re sure there’ll be more updates and revelations to come as days go by, so just keep it posted here.

We’ll be sure to be on the lookout for this one, cos we’re just as excited as you all are. So how about you? What’s your take on this game?
