Shadow of Sonic the Hedgehog Steps Out of The Shadows

Meet ShadowWe already know a whole lot of information on Sonic the Hedgehog. But as to his doppelganger Shadow, there wasn’t much going around about him, except that he is the much maligned dark manifestation of the hedgehog world. Well, we no longer have to stay in the dark as we now have details on Shadow’s role in Sonic‘s next game!

Set to make his first playable appearance at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, Shadow is now in the limelight as Sega has smartly decided to throw in some background information about him. And what exactly are we supposed to expect from him? Here’s a quick rundown of his bio-data.

His name is Shadow the Hedgehog, but plain Shadow would do just fine. This male hedgehog stands at 100 cm and weighs in at 35 kg. He is biologically 15 years old, the same age as Sonic’s own body; although chronologically, he is said to be 50 years old. Created as the Ultimate Life Form by Dr. Eggman’s grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, he can use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to utilize Chaos Control. This is one awesome power as it enables him to manipulate not just some minor aspects, but the whole time and space.

His mission starts as he receives a call from the federal government to respond to an SOS call. From here, he becomes intertwined with the characters and stories of Sonic and Silver, while Dr. Eggman utilizes his battalions of robotic minions in an attempt to gain control of the Flames of Disaster.

Apart from his ability to control time and space, Shadow is also highly adept at controlling vehicles, hence, his preference for vehicles over guns in this game. Because of this, he then gains faster access to areas and has more power to destroy obstacles in his way, although he is just as fast on his feet.

Since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow has appeared in a multitude of games, as well as in shows and comic books. He was practically shrouded in complete mystery until his self-titled game Shadow the Hedgehog, in which his past is revealed.

So there you go. Now he isn’t a total stranger anymore. Check out these new screenshots below to see Shadow in action, along with his toys.
