Sony Not Shelving The PS3 Marketing Campaign

PS3 delayFollowing the news that PS3 will be delayed on PAL territories, Mark Sweney of the Media Guardian site has released an article with the headline, “Ad campaign shelved after PlayStation delay”. The article stated that after announcing that the console will not go on sale in the UK until March 2007, Sony has been forced to shelve its £40M Christmas TV advertising and marketing push for PlayStation 3.

A Sony spokesperson responded, “We don’t know where the Media Guardian got it from, but we are not shelving the PS3 marketing campaign.”

Sony recently launched the marketing push for PlayStation 3 with a series of six online high definition video clips (“stories”), each running for three-minutes. They were created by Stream, the branded entertainment arm of TBWA/London. The spokesperson confirmed that the new PS3 website will remain updated and Sony believes that the “PS3 stories” campaign is an excellent way of promoting PS3’s key selling points.
