Sony Online Entertainment to unveil new IPs at upcoming Gamers’ Days

Sony Online Entertainment - Image 1Back over at the DICE Summit in (Viva) Las Vegas, Sony Online Entertainment hinted at their plans for making an espionage-themed war MMO. SOE President John Smedley hoped to spin a World of Warcraft-killer based on a more modern setting placed in a war-torn era.

Sony Online Entertainment is now poised to reveal that new game concept (tied around an intellectual property) plus one more on their upcoming Gamers’ Day events in the U.S.

The two events, scheduled for Los Angeles and New York later this year, will serve as vessels for delivering the good news, plus offering hands-on demonstrations for titles coming to Sony’s next-gen console, just like the last one they had.

While there is speculation that the second game could be anything from another fantasy-themed MMO to a sci-fi MMO, we’re banking on Smedley’s statement about breaking off from the mainstream fantasy titles the MMO industry is chock full of. You may remember SOE for bringing out the strategy constructible MMO Pirates of the Spanish Main expansion, released February 27, 2007. So there’s hope that perhaps MMO gamers could look forward something new.
