Sony plans shipping 6M PS3 units end of March

Playstation 3 - Image 1The sales records of Sony may have been bleak for the past few months, but the Tokyo-based console manufacturer is still maintaining a target of 6 million units of Playstation 3 console to be sold before the end of the fiscal year, which happens at the end of March.

It will be remembered that the PS3 is launching in Europe on March 23. Sony plans on shipping at least 1 million units of their next-gen console to Europe, a fourth of which will go to the UK alone. Already retailers are abuzz with excitement at the public anticipation for Sony’s next-gen console.

The beta testing for Sony’s Playstation Home, an avatar-based community integrated in the PS3, will already happen in April. Meanwhile, Sony will also provide estimates on May 13 for the shipment of PS3 units at fiscal year ending on March 2008.
