Sony’s Forecast for PS3: Sales Will Be Better Than Xbox 360

Sony PS#Despite dire predictions from practically everyone about the upcoming PS3, Sony is keeping its corporate fingers crossed and its corporate chin up as the console’s commercial debut draws closer. They even predict initial sales of their console will top Microsoft’s Xbox 360. According to company soothsayersÂ’ about 6 million units will be snapped up by gamers during its first four to five months in the market. Then again the same soothsayers failed to see the mishaps that caused the delay of PS3’s launch originally set for Spring.

“After the introduction of the PS3 we will focus our efforts on expanding the platform as rapidly as possible,” Sony said. “We will also attempt to lower the manufacturing costs by reducing the number of parts used in hardware and reducing the costs of the semiconductors and other key components. By so doing, we aim to bring the PS3 business to profitability at the earliest possible time.”

They better! Sony invested about $425 million last year on developing and hyping the PlayStation 3 for its release which was moved to November this year.
