We’ve seen Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man Noir in yesterday’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions trailer, so now it’s time to get a few more bits of info about the game. Thankfully, Activision has obliged with a press release..

As we saw in the trailer, Amazing Spider-Man is firmly rooted in Spidey’s classic era. Spider-Man Noir, on the other hand, is a stealthier Spidey who prefers to take his opponents down from the shadows of a 1930s-inspired world. There are two other Spidey versions to be revealed.

Now, why the different Spideys? The story, written by Marvel scribe Dan Slott, has the webslinger racing through parallel universes to collect the scattered pieces of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, capture its magical energy, and bring back stability to the fabric of reality. Heavy stuff.

Players will get to face familiar villains like Kraven, but there are also a few never-before-seen menaces lurking in the wings such as a Noir version of Hammerhead.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is slated for a September release. The trailer suggests it will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and DS.
