Splinter Cell: Double Agent Delayed Again

Splinter Cell Double AgentBuried right in the middle of Ubisoft’s revenue report for the first quarter of the year was news that Splinter Cell: Double Agent will be released at the end of October instead of September as last scheduled.

This isn’t the first time Sam Fisher‘s been made to hang back in the shadows a little while longer. Double Agent was initially scheduled for a March release. Ubisoft then moved the date to September.

In the video game industry, games are usually delayed in order to provide more development time. Ubisoft’s move in this case was a strategic one. According to a Ubisoft representative, the delay moves Double Agent into the company’s holiday quarter, where Ubisoft expects strong sales of the title to contribute to year-end revenue.

With Ubisoft clearly looking for a Christmas hit in Double Agent, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s going to get delayed yet again…
