Researchers from West Virginia have been able to find out that Dance Dance Revolution for  the Wii and Xbox 360 has been proven effective in cutting down fat and raising confidence.

The study took in 35 overweight children from ages seven to 12. These participants were considered overweight according to their personal body-mass index (BMI). They would work their way up to a maximum of 25 songs, equal to about an hour of playtime a day.

These children were then asked to gradually increase the amount of playtime they had with the game. Those who were able to turn the game as their exercise program gained only two pounds throughout the whole duration of the program. On the other hand, those who did not play the game gained an average of 5.3 pounds.

Aside from these numbers they were able to encounter, the researchers found out that the game led to better artery expansion. In addition to this, some of the participants were able to develop physical self-esteem as well.
