Sub $400 price tag for the PS3?

A rumor has just hit the wireless courtesy of an EB Games employee that the console will retail for $389. How could this be? Apparently Blu-Ray consortium members will take some of the hit for the manufacturing price, so it appears as though it’s not just Sony’s future that has been staked upon the success of the next generation console.

If that’s not enough to get your rumor mill going, we also have a possible launch date of November 11 AND that pre-orders may be starting somewhere around June. No, I’m sorry, there’s rumor yet of a new PS3 controller. I guess you’ll just have to wait until E3 for that.
