Supreme Commander and GPGnet beta ticks down to last day

Supreme Commander - Image 1Yes, Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander fans alike, your chance to experience the multiplayer glory ends on February 12, 2007. The game, after being offered as beta over Gas Powered Games‘ online service, GPGnet, will be ending the beta stage and multiplayer hosting of the game on Monday at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. Eastern time, 1 a.m. GMT).

All beta players are encouraged to keep playing over the weekend since Gas Powered Games is still gathering more information on server performance and gaming statistics, as they say, “right up to the very last minute”.

GPG admins will be online, too, to play with players and to monitor the final hours of the beta. They are especially keeping an eye out for particular types of games. Need a hint? Two words: arranged team.

Beta players can keep their currently registered names on GPGnet by logging in today. But watch out, apparently the announcement has drawn all players back to the GPGnet servers and is weighing down a heavy load on the servers. Expect some features to be disabled for the meantime.

If you haven’t grabbed a chance at the beta, you can always opt for the demo. Anyways, the game will be out by February 20.
