Survey: Ireland loses interest in the PS3

PS3 units - Image 1It seems that what was once Sony territory has found itself moving slowly away from the company, finding its gaming kicks on other consoles. Next Gen Ireland reports that Ireland isn’t as Sony-savvy as it used to be.

They asked 200 respondents about their views on the PS3’s launch. When asked about whether or not they’d be buying a PS3 during launch, Next Gen was surprised by what they discovered. Instead of a resounding affirmative, they found themselves with a different response altogether:

72% would not be purchasing the PS3 on launch with an overwhelming 82% of those people complaining that the machine was far too expensive and had nothing new to bring to the table.

82% of the respondents were more or less set on buying either an Xbox 360 or Wii, with 68% of the respondents hesitant to purchase a PS3 unit at any future point in time.

Not exactly heartening news for the PS3, but with only 200 respondents, it’s only a small indication of what’s occurring in Ireland. Perhaps a larger respondent base would have altered the outcome somewhat, but the trend is certainly disturbing to say the least.
