Swine Flu doesn’t scare ESA: E3 Expo still happening

Pandemic Studios - Image 1With 13 confirmed cases of the H1N1 Swine Flu in California, Governor Arnie’s raised a State of Emergency. If the situation doesn’t improve within a month, the E3 Expo might not push through. Despite these risks, the ESA event organizers are optimistic that the E3 will indeed happen, come hell, high water, or pandemic (and by pandemic, I’m obviously not referring to the studio).

“Aaahh… aaahhh… aaaaachooooo!”

With 13 confirmed cases of the H1N1 Swine Flu in California, Governor Arnie’s raised a State of Emergency to “suspend non-competitive bid contracts for services, material, personnel and equipment needed to respond to this outbreak.”

With just about a little less than a month away, the E3 Expo in Los Angeles might not push through if things get worse. ESA event organizers, however, are optimistic that the E3 will indeed happen, come hell, high water, or pandemic (and by pandemic, I’m obviously not referring to the studio).

The Swine Flu outbreak is seriously causing worry among millions of people, but despite that, the ESA maintains that the “The 2009 E3 Expo is progressing as planned.” They continue:

Public health officials are taking all appropriate steps and we continue to follow their direction on all measures. We look forward to a great event, and to seeing you in Los Angeles in June.

Of course, exhibitors like Activision, Eidos, Ubisoft, and the rest are still attending. It’s just that they’re “closely monitoring” the situation. Though the organizers of the event remain optimistic, one can’t help but take safety measures.
