Tamagotchi coming to the big screen
Digital pets Tamagotchi have been around for a decade now. Namco Bandai really hit something golden with these creations seeing how well the whole franchise (from the egg-shaped toy computers, to video game titles, and other reiterations) has been doing in Japan.
We just learned that a movie featuring these demanding-yet-irresistible pets is currently in production and will see the light of movie houses December of this year. According to Rueters, the story for this movie will revolve around a girl who was visited by several Tamagotchi characters that came from the stars.
One Namco spokeswoman added that “the Tamagotchi characters are pretty popular in their own right, and we thought it would be nice for people to see their favorite characters moving and acting in color.” Aside from the already mentioned, no other information is currently known about the movie itself.
One of the more popular video game titles involving these virtual pets include the franchise Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 1 and 2.
