Team Twiizers: calm down about Firmware 3.4, and just wait - Image 1Following the widespread panic that gripped the Wiibrew community after Nintendo released another firmware update with hack blocks is a message from Team Twiizers.

Doing crowd control today is the team’s Marcan, who explains that the Wiibrew community isn’t doomed; far from it actually.

His message is addressed to those who want to know what’s going on, as opposed to those who are worried if they will ever be able to run their *ehem* backups again.

In a nutshell, Marcan says Wiibrew isn’t dead. The Twilight Hack is gone “and probably won’t be coming back” but they have alternatives in mind, and exploits from other games they haven’t announced yet:

the ultimate goal is to have homebrew that is able to use the WiiÂ’s features, period. How that is accomplished is irrelevant, so old methods of doing things arenÂ’t necessarily going to work in the future, nor do we care about it (weÂ’ll find alternatives if necessary).

You may be wondering what it is that weÂ’re doing anyway. Basically, weÂ’re looking at the current situation, moving on with existing projects, and trying to figure out what the best course for the future will be.

[…] Prognosis is good, and hacks will come out eventually, but youÂ’ll have to wait it out. And you shouldnÂ’t expect anything in particular. Remember, itÂ’s about the end result (homebrew), not about how we get there. Also, donÂ’t take some ideas that weÂ’ve thrown out there previously as definitive – weÂ’re rethinking things right now.

In short, calm the hell down and just wait. DonÂ’t update if you donÂ’t feel like “change” – youÂ’ve got that option so far. And if youÂ’ve updated, my suggestion is that you wait. Avoid hacky workarounds – they can be worse than the problems they purport to fix.

There you have it folks. Calm the hell down. Marcan has a lot more to say though, so hit the source link for his full entry.
