The 25th New Generation World Hobby Fair: playable game demos galore

Why a dorky Megaman EX? Because kids love mascots - Image 1

The New Generation World Hobby Fair is Japan’s largest hobby exhibition on comics, video games, toys, and characters for children. Now the reason this event should matter to us gamers is because big names like Sega, Nintendo, SCE, Square-Enix, Capcom, Konami, and Namco Bandai usually join the event to help make it an entertainment wonderland for children.

Of course, to us, wonderland means that a lot of yet-to-be released games will probably show up there as a demo.

Dagenki Online reports that Nintendo, SCE, and SEGA were there to promote their upcoming games. From what we can discern in the rough online-translation, the games that were available for play during the event were Mario Party 8, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Excite Truck, Ratchet and Clank 5 for the PSP, Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix for the PS2, and many more. Now we’re working with a rough translation here so feel free to correct us via the comments if we’ve mistakenly mentioned a game that actually didn’t have a demo.

This is the trouble you run into when you’re working with Engrish.

Moving on, the Osaka conference was already held last 14th of this month and the Tokyo conference is set on the 20th. Upcoming conferences will be held at the Nagoya Dome at Nagoya on the 28th, and at the Fukuoka Yahoo! JAPAN dome at Fukuoka on February 4.

The event also features sneak previews of new anime, and new collectible toys that should be on sale come spring.

We’re currently doing our best to sift through a lot of Japanese language reports, and we’ll update you if any more news is released, or if any further info on interesting game demos is made known.

See several (a lot of) images of the event courtesy of Dagenki Online after the Jump.
