THE definitive PSP Location Free Media Guide!

Location Free PSP

Hello fellow QJ’ers! I’m sure all of you’ve been dreaming of a setup where every gadget of yours is connected to everything else. Streaming music, movies, everything. And sitting on a beach in the carribean, or maybe in your bathtub, streaming all your home music to your PSP. But alas! The actual functionality offered is pretty sparse.

There are two solutions though. You can either buy a fat ass $200 Sony Location Free Base station and stream all your media. Or you can use homebrew solutions. But c’mon. Whom are we kidding? We all know that while the homebrew solutions are pretty useful, the functionality is separated into different applications. Now there’s no way we can use the first option (location free base station) without actually spending big bucks.

But what about the second option? Is there a way to somehow make everything *magically* work? Well, we still don’t have an *All-in-One* media-streaming homebrew solution. What we can still do is write a lot of documentation to make everything very easy for the end user.

And thats what PAJ has done! Now I’ll be frank with you guys here. We do receive a lot of guides and suggestions every day. A few are good enough, which are listed in our forums, or a few on our frontpage.

“So how’s this one different?”, you may ask. Well, PAJ has gone the whole hog and practically written an ebook about integrating everything! I’ve had a look and it practically has all the bases covered for music streaming, anywhere round the globe. The keyword here is ‘music’; because this great solution is only described for streaming music. I’m sure that given a bit of time, it can be used in much the same way with videos. Heck, we’ve already got PiMPStreamer and VLC ported to the PSP. It’s just a matter of writing some great documentation (like this one) to make it easy for everyone.

Now generally, we would simply copy the whole guide here, but not this time. It’s a 42 page ebook! I’m not sure if you guys would be too excited with reading all that on the frontpage itself. Still, if you are looking for a streaming solution, just have a look at this one. I’m personally recommending it. And although it uses and guides you through a lot of software, the total cost for all of it would be $0! So it’s a win-win situation for everyone. The only piece of hardware you would need is a WiFi router in your home. And seriously, if you don’t have one of those, get one!

The author has also included a 30MB attachment which includes all the applications which he uses in his guide.

Here’s a list of them:

Finally, the download links.
