The problems of the LFG tool in WoW

LFG screen from Blizzard's World of Warcraft - Image 1Nobody will get the full World of Warcraft experience that Blizzard had envisioned if they refuse to join a party or group in their career. The LFG or the Looking For Group tool was supposed to offer an easy way to do that. Introduced in the 2.01 patch (Before the Storm), it was deemed as an improvement over the LFG chat channel. The problems associated with the chat channel were solved by the removal of the channel but new problems have come from the LFG tool.

Those who have been looking for players to fill specific positions in the group have become rather disillusioned with the tool. There have been instances where one group is looking for a tank and would have that slot filled by a rogue instead.

Players have suggested adding more drop down bars which not only include the quests and type of party being made, but also about what characters are needed in the group. In addition to this, it would be helpful to have the expected roles of the players listed to avoid confusion.

Other players have also been frustrated because they have not been able to actually find a group using the LFG. There have been accounts of people who have been waiting for as long as a week to get a group. Those who are lucky enough to find a group are sometimes booted out of the group unceremoniously.

While it may seem like the LFG tool is horrible, there are players who swear by its efficiency. Have you had a horrible or wonderful experience using the LFG tool? Feel free to share it with the rest of the community as they would probably appreciate your input.
