Top Gun Lands on DS

There are few things in life that can make Tom Cruise jump up and down on a couch. Looks like Mastiff’s Top Gun is not one of them. The reviewer over at 1up said it was Top Gun “in name only” and content-wise shares very little with the movie that dominated cinematic airspace 20 years ago.

The game supports single-player and multiplayer functionality (up to four-players locally). The majority of the game is spent playing through the career mode, which spans a multitude of missions. Accomplishing the primary objectives is enough to progress through the game, but carrying out auxiliary requirements results in earning Top Gun stars.

Anyway, 1UP added Top Gun “won’t be mistaken for the next Star Fox.. but easy-to-pick-up gameplay, tiers of depth-inducing campaign objectives, and multiplayer functionality could provide DS owners pining for some aerial combat a decent enough dose of high-altitude entertainment.”
