Transcend announces new high-speed 4GB SDHC card

The high-speed 4GB bad boy from TranscendMemory, memory, and more memory. It’s practically turned into a modern-day mantra. If you mention that you are a proud owner of a 32MB memory card, chances are that whoever you’re talking to will give you a look that says, “So, which cave are you from?” And that’s if you’re lucky.

These days it’s all about the Gs, as in GIGAbytes, and the memory card companies are scrambling all over each other to put out the biggest and fastest out there on the market. Big and fast. Now that’s a pair that describes Taipei-Transcend Information’s new 4GB high-speed SD High Capacity (SDHC) Class 6 card.

These cards are the wave of the future, if you’ll forgive the cliche. The SDHC is the new generation of SD cards (Version 2.0) that, if formatted in FAT32, can reach up to an enormous 32GB capacity. Imagine that! Up to 32GB in a tiny, tiny package. Plus, it’s got high-speed data transfer capabilities, so if you’ve got one of those new SDHC devices like the Panasonic DMC-L1 camera, then you’re gonna love this card.

Produced using original NAND Flash chips for optimum life and performance, Transcend’s 4GB SDHC memory cards also come with a write-protect feature, so no more worrying about accidentally deleting or overwriting all of those super-important files you stored in ’em. These babies also support Error Correcting code, In-System Programming, and power down and sleep modes.

No word yet on pricing and availability for these babies, but we’ll be sure to let you know once we get our hands on that info.
