Travelers Tales acquires motion capture outfit Centroid

Travelers Tales acquires motion capture outfit Centroid - Image 1Developer Travelers Tales (TT), known for their work on Lego Star Wars series, has acquired yet another asset – Centroid. The said motion capture outfit’s ten employees along with 12 staff members at its Serbian subsidiary will be forming TT Centroid.

What would surprise most though, is the fact that this is the second acquisition of the company this year. Their first being Embryonic last January which was promptly renamed Fusion and set as their in-house team. Managing director of TT Jon Burton spoke about the importance of this acquisition,

Acquiring Centroid Motion Capture allows us to add a further skill-set to the TT Games Group and strengthen our connections within the video games industry.

We are also very excited by the lease we have secured for the new company at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, as this is where some of the biggest films in the country are produced and will increase our presence in the film making industry.

Does this mean that the company will be branching out into movie development? Or will they use their newly purchased equipment for the development of their future game. Quite frankly, it looks as though they will be doing both, though how successful they will be in their ventures is still undecided.
