U.S. VC update: Volleyball, Axelay, Blue’s Journey

Another Monday, another batch of new titles for the North American Virtual Console service. This week, we’ve got some great old-school gaming set in a gymnasium all the way to an alien world. New this week are Volleyball, Axelay and Blue’s Journey – three more classic titles to give you your retro gaming fix.

It’s Monday once again, time for another batch of classic titles heading to the Wii Shop Channel. TurboGrafx16 fans won’t be getting a TurboGrafx16 title this week, but there is one for those who love the NeoGeo. This week’s new games are:

• Volleyball (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) – Here’s something for the sports fans out there. You can select either the men’s or women’s competition and choose from one of eight available countries to represent. Volleyball also includes a training mode and competitive multiplayer for two players.
• Axelay (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points) – Aliens are invading the planet Corliss. You, along with the prototype ship Axelay, are Corliss’ last line of defense. Play through multiple stages of action – from other planets to space stations – all on your way to destroying the alien headquarters.
• Blue’s Journey (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points) – The planet of Raguy has been invaded by the Daruma tribe, changing it from a beautiful and peaceful place into one filled with pollution. Using his main weapon, a leaf, as well as the ability to change his size at will, it’s up to Blue to eliminate the Daruma tribe.

In case your Wii’s brand new and you haven’t tried out the Virtual Console feature yet, all you have to do to get these classic titles is buy them off the Wii Shop Channel using your Wii Points, download them and you’re good to go. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel itself or at retail outlets.
