Ubisoft’s DRM system cracked in under 25 hours

rabbidSo Ubisoft’s been trying to deal with the issue of piracy, just as everyone in the industry is. To combat this problem, they’ve come up with the solution of havig a new DRM policy put in place for all their new PC titles. The DRM aimed to curb piracy by requiring all legitimate users to have permanent Internet connection, which then continuously authenticates your game’s copy. On top of that, save game files are now also stored on Ubisoft’s servers.

Of course, this new policy did not sit well with long-time fans of Ubisoft games as it does present a slew of problems for them. For one, it makes them dependent on Internet connection to play the game. Another possibility is what happens to their save game files if the Ubisoft server crashes?

Well, gamers who do find this new system cumbersome have Skid-Row to thank for. This infamous cracker group has broken down the new DRM, thereby now making it largely moot. There’s a lot of codes and whatnot – which honestly looks a lot like alien -speak to me – so just feel free to check it out in the source link below.

I have a feeling Ubisoft will be sending out some mean memo for a certain department today.
