*UPDATE* Where’s my sand??? Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones for Wii confirmed

Someday, my prince will come... to the Wii...Sharpen that dagger, practice those moves, and wake up your evil alter ego, as it’s been recently confirmed that Ubisoft will be releasing a remake of The Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones for the Nintendo Wii.

Over at NiWiFi, they’ve reported that the latest issue of Nintendo Power contains this juicy bit of news. It also goes on to say that the game will be incorporating the use of the Wiimote and the Nunchuck attachment, which would then allow players to pull off the Prince’s signature moves such as the Dagger Plant and Speed Kills.

What’s good about this would be that a game from a well-loved series is being brought to a next-gen platform. This could then be a sign that further installments for the PoP series are possible. The bad thing’s that, well… it’s a remake and there’s no new content at all. But then again, could this project just simply be Ubisoft’s experiment on how they could use the Wiimote for an even wider array of actions in a game?

The title is reported to be due by March of 2007, so stay tuned for further updates. In the meantime, we’re just hoping that Ubisoft isn’t going to be expecting us to perform wallruns in our living rooms.

UPDATE: Alright, just to prove to the skeptics that the game is indeed for real and not just another rumor, we found these images of the latest Nintendo Power issue which do show that the Prince is well on his way to being next-gen-ed.
