Valve offers Source engine to developers for 360

Gordon FreemanIn what might be another great partnership meaning a lot of good for gamers, Valve has just announced that they will be licensing the Source engine to Xbox 360 developers. We already know that they will be releasing Half Life 2 for the Xbox 360, so this is a double whammy by Valve.

Personally, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve played Source-based games like Half Life 2 and Counter Strike:Source, and trust me, it takes gameplay to a totally new level. The other companies selling middleware would be Unreal Engine.”>Unreal Engine.”>Epic Games with their Unreal Engine 3, and Gamebryo Element by Emergent. In related news, when Gamespot asked Valve about their plans for the PS3, they denied them outright saying, “We’re not currently working with Sony on PS3 middleware.” Though you still have to remember that Valve is working with Electronic Arts to get Half Life 2 on the PS3. Anyways, stay tuned for the latest about this development!
