Yet another past-gen console joins the Virtual Console line-up, and in Japan it came with four friends ready to rock people’s socks off. Yes, that’s right – the Sega Master System is now an official entry in the Virtual Console roster. Let’s check out and see what Japan is getting, so we all can be just a bit more green with envy.

First off is Hokuto no Ken for the Master System, a game based on that timeless anime where men in a Mad Max-esque future have the power to make each other’s heads explode – via Martial Arts. Next up is Gleylancer for the Mega Drive, a shooter created by Masaya, a developing firm that also came up with the Cho Aniki series.

Rounding out this release is Neo Nectaris and Power Eleven, on the PC Engine CD-ROM and PC Engine respectively. Neo Nectaris is a Hudson Soft title that’s all about turn-based strategy, and had quite the following when it came out. Power Eleven is your typical Soccer Game from Konami, and is worth a look at if you’re itching for that retro footie fix.

It’s a bit sad that the Sega Master System‘s first foray into the Virtual Console is looking a bit skinny – we all know what we want, don’t we? Come on, Sega and Nintendo – bring back the blue hedgehog where he first appeared!

Here’s the Wii Points Price List for this week’s VC Japan’s releases:

  • Hokuto no Ken (Master System, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points)
  • Gleylancer (Mega Drive, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points)
