Warhammer’s Beta legions recruit 100,000 more

After only 5 weeks since the last reported figure of 200,000, the legions of Warhammer Online Beta have grown, amassing a total of more than 300,000 players from Europe and North America.

Gathering such a huge following only at its beta stage is already an accomplishment in itself, but considering WAR’s unlucky history this is a tremendous success. The game’s development faced a problem in financing in mid-2004 but the developers down at Climax Online carried on under its own financing. It finally halted by the end of the same year because they didn’t find a publisher.

EA Mythic finally took WAR up once more on 2005 and is now set to be released as one of the most highly anticipated releases for the PC next year. Not bad for a game that almost shut down entirely.
