Wifi Babelfish POC release 1

babelfishWhen it comes to translating Asian languages to English, we have to say we’re no big fans of Babelfish. But it’s free and Babelfish mis-translations never fail to amuse us, plus we just love the name (Babelfish) so we’re not really complaining. If you feel the same way about Babelfish this is something of a good news. razorrifh found a way to access Babelfish wirelessly from your PSP. The proof-of-concept homebrew app is called Wifi Babelfish POC (Proof of Concept).

To install, download the file to x:/PSP/GAME/ folder. When you run it (with the wifi switch on), it will show you a list of Wi-Fi connections. It automatically chooses the first connection, and then get an IP address from the access point. Expect the app to freeze if the signal is weak or if it looses connection. If it does, hold start to reset. If that doesn’t work, use the home button to do so and try again.

The author is working on the update which includes:

  • Better GUI
  • Add text input
  • Get the screenshot function to work
  • Fix bugs

If you find other bugs aside from the freezing thing (or you have suggestions for some features you want to see in the next update), you can post them at the QJ Forum. Don’t forget to check out the readme file before you start translating.
