Wii Channels: MIA until launch day

Wii Channels

IGN already has their full retail Wii system unit. (Gotta admit we’re a bit jealous, but ANYWAY, moving on…) So what do you do when you finally get your long-awaited console? Explore and toy around with it, of course! And this is exactly what they were hoping to do BUT(!) after they booted up the system and tweaked the system settings, they weren’t able to access the Wii channels that required an Internet connection.

Naturally the guys were shocked (shocked! I tell ya!) ‘cuz apparently, you would need an initial upgrade before you’re able to view these Internet connection-requiring Wii channels such as the Weather, News, and Shop channels. No prob, right? All they have to do is run the upgrade, and that’s exactly what they did next, but guess what? An error message showed up, informing them that they can’t connect to the Nintendo network.

Evidently, the Wii units you’ll get prior to the official launch will not be able to access any of the applications or channels that requires you to connect to the Nintendo network. So while you may be gloating like hell to your friends ‘cuz you’re getting your Wii before November 19th, sorry to disappoint you, but some Wii channels will still be MIA until the Wii’s official launch.

But hey, if the Wii channels mean nothing to you and you’re strictly all about the games, then heck, we say you earn full gloating privileges. Hahaha. We’ll keep you posted for more news and developments so keep it here, alright gloaters?*winks*
