WiiD modchip site: Installation instructions, firmware updates

For the guys planning to have their Nintendo Wii run on WiiD (aka Wii Drive), the dev team behind this modchip has made some important announcements over at the WiiD site. First up is a distributor’s list which presents the current online retailers that carry the WiiD. The site addresses have been divided up according to their respective countries: Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and UK.

Next is a recently posted installation guide which presents new WiiD owners with the necessary steps to get their new modchip working. The diagrams are purely visual, so they should be easy to undertsand:

And lastly, the site’s announced the WiiD’s first firmware update. This update will add region-free capabilities to the Wii – a most welcome tweak, given that recent workarounds weren’t as flexible as they were expected to be. The firmware bundles (arranged according to region coding) will also carry installation instructions and other important details, so be sure to check their text documents before anything else.
