Wiimote as VoIP?

WiimoteIt has been two weeks now since E3 showered us with nice surprises from Nintendo’s next-gen console. But Nintendo still has more tricks up their sleeves regarding the Wii.

Rumor has it that aside from the presence of a speaker, the Wiimote’s ability to be used as a VoIP phone is also one of the things that makes it revolutionary. If it is true that the Wiimote will include a microphone and will have the ability to store a user phonebook/address book, then this makes the controversial controller an ideal and straightforward VoIP phone. If the things crawling in the grapevine are to be believed, then the Wiimote can also be used to make video calls…although how a camera will come to play has not been clarified.

Another “breaking news”: Wiichannel.com has just been added to the list of Nintendo-owned domains. Does this mean we’ll soon see a Wii-dedicated interactive channel to carry animations, games, game trailers, and other AV content?

Since all are not yet confirmed, all we can do is just wait until we get official word from Nintendo. Ooh, the suspense is killing me (and, I bet, you as well).
