It’s been a long and fruitful 12 years for the partnership of the legendary video game designer and publishing company, but his departure from EA certainly does not mean that he’s done creating his games.

Said Lucy Bradshaw, general manager of Maxis (an EA subsidiary, which was co-founded by Will Wright himself), “I think Will will continue in the games space. It’s something that’s very natural to him… I think what gamers might see is other directions Will might take on as well.”

Will Wright has announced that he will instead now focus his efforts on the Stupid Fun Club, an entertainment company that he also founded back in 2001. The good thing is that although he’s focusing on his own now is that EA basically still has the right to first refusal on any projects coming from Stupid Fun Club. Meaning, they’ll still get the first dibs.

We’re looking forward to whatever future endeavors he’ll be embarking on, especially after he told in an interview last year that he will be working on a “pretty grandiose” project after Spore.
