WipEout Pulse community to drive game forward

While next-gen Sony gamers are on edge for the release of SCEE‘s WipEout Pulse come September, Sony took their sweet time planning the game’s pre-release movements out carefully and surely. WipEout Pulse may look the next-gen part in both innards and gameplay, but SCEE has been focused on building something else: an online experience like none experienced in the series.

Now while the WipEout Pulse will allow gamers to create their own race crafts and share them with others, another aspect they’ve listed in their to-do list is an online community across multiple platforms. The game’s director, Tony Buckley, revealed in an interview with CVG that SCEE is planning on setting up a way that fans of the franchise can meet with the developers online and give their own suggestions on how some WipEout content may be developed. Buckley said:

If you’ve got an online community [the buzz about a game] drives on with people. It really important to us. The visual appeal is a huge aspect of WipEout and now we’re letting people go online and come up with what they think a WipEout ship should look like.

He also stated that the PlayStation 3 version would be developed with this aspect in mind, together with its integration with the PlayStation Network. “It’s not always all about playing the game, it’s about getting involved in the game,” explained Buckley. They don’t want to create great ideas and simply do away with them, but they will offer such features over other platforms if the community wants.
